Affordable health care is becoming a concern to many Americans nowadays. Many companies are now increasing the charges, for providing this service to their workers or cutting back on the level of cover. I am one of those people affected by these rises because a couple of years ago my companys health care plan was changed, resulting in fewer benefits. Just before Christmas, the company announced some changes including the replacement of our, now to expensive, health care supplier.

Affordable health care is becoming a concern to many Americans nowadays. Many companies are now increasing the charges, for providing this service to their workers or cutting back on the level of cover. I am one of those people affected by these rises because a couple of years ago my companys health care plan was changed, resulting in fewer benefits. Just before Christmas, the company announced some changes including the replacement of our, now to expensive, health care supplier.
They said it was necessary if all their employees were to have the same level of health care. Although I am just as well looked after with this new policy, I am not entirely convinced. I don not mind other workers benefiting but it costs me more now, almost twice as much more to have my family covered in the plan. Other than a few exceptions, everyone else seems to benefit from this new arrangement but because I have not had a raise but I am taking a great deal less home so my family can have health cover.
I suppose my health care plan is still good but this new company is not as good as the old one. An affordable health care provider may have been the excuse for the change but the only result some of us have seen is higher out of pocket expenses and co-pays, not to mention reduced paychecks. It makes more sense when you realize just how good the old policy was because I did not pay cent when I stayed in hospital 2 years ago giving birth to my daughter. This new plan, under similar circumstances however, would personally cost me in excess of 5,000 dollars.
However, that amount is just for the hospital and delivery because I would also have other expenses and that just doesn't seem fair to the majority that are involved. Fortunately, more affordable health care scheme are being started to help those less fortunate. Options now exist for people that are not supplied with a health provision where they work, and now single mothers have access to plans which they can join; some people can even have free health care. The problem is when a small number of people take advantage of a system that was designed for those that needed it most.
Those less well off are in need of these affordable health care schemes but they are also used by those who are intent on living of the state and do not actually contribute to society. We often forget who is ultimately paying for these schemes; us, the taxpayer. The health plan program my employer found definitely had improved financial benefits for him. Many of the workers found themselves subsidizing the companys desire to save money yet still provide a scheme by ensuring that they paid in their paychecks. We have a responsibility here in America to providing some sort of affordable health care for those that need it most.
