So, the first thing you need to assess is where your abilities lie and because there are so many ways of earning a living online on the two most important (I believe) are mentioned in this article To put the whole process very simply, all you are doing is providing a service where you find people who have a particular need and sell them something they are already looking for.

One of the most popular methods of making money online is by affiliate marketing where a person becomes an unpaid (commissions only) salesperson for a company, internet or otherwise and is paid for sales, or on occasion leads. Obviously the greatest benefit for affiliates here is that they do not own the company or have any of the pressure of running it and only have to think about sales.

Once the affiliate has located a good company that intends to be around and continue with the program, it is easier to build up a relationship with them that profits both parties. Affiliate revenues vary tremendously with some programs paying as much as seventy five percent on each sale with others (Amazon is an example) who only pay a few percent. Of course the greatest benefit for an affiliate to make money online is there is no need to own a product or keep any stocks so it is capital free.

Google also has its own program called adsense which uses content relevant adverts on websites and blogs to attract people to click on and is the second main method of making money online. Although the adsense account is free to join, only a small amount is paid by Google for each click that is made on these textual (usually) links they supply.

This particular system requires a very busy website or number of websites to get enough clicks to pay a decent income. A small warning is worthwhile at this point as Google is very strict and will stop payment to anyone who breaches their terms and conditions so check them on a regular basis.

While almost anyone can join Google's program, care is needed as they are continually updating and amending their terms and conditions which will affect your revenue. Making money online might just be a hobby for you but whatever the reason make sure you are comfortable why you are starting on this endeavor. All you need to do is learn how to get people to 'visit' your site and because this is not an easy thing to learn on your own, you will need some help that will teach you the best tactics.
